Bob Strong, Coach/Director of Blind Sports, Sargent Park LBC, informed me that the two totally blind bowlers from his club made Manitoba proud in Ontario.

At the end of July, two members of the Sargent Park Lawn Bowling Club topped the field at Canadian (Blind) Championships held in Windsor. Fourth year bowler Binh Vo won the Gold Medal, losing only one game – that being to first-year club-mate David Wood, who won the Silver Medal in an exciting final match. Trailing by 2 points, Wood scored 3 on the final end to emerge victorious. Both athletes competed in the B1 (totally blind) category. Their Coach/Director Bob Strong commented on the high standard of play throughout the week, with shots being made that would challenge the most skilled sighted bowler. Players from 7 provinces were entered in 3 divisions based on their level of visual impairment. Medallists qualified to represent Canada at an International Competition in Israel next year.
