On Saturday, August 21, Clarice Fitzpatrick of Winnipeg won the Canadian Women's Singles Lawn Bowling Championship over Marg Lepere of Ontario. The gold medal was her fifth consecutive gold medal at the Canadian Championships, having previously won the fours in 06, pairs in 07, fours in 08, and pairs in 09. She now has a total of 9 women's gold medals tieing Alice Duncalf of Vancouver and Dorothy Macey of Vancouver. With a 10th gold medal (2002) in mixed pairs and 2 more gold (2007 & 2008) in seniors, she could be considered the alltime Canadian leader.
...and teammates Elaine Jones (with 8 gold) and Marilyn Baron (with 4 gold) are not far behind. Meanwhile, Betty Van Walleghem, Betty Grundy, Marilyn, and Donna Law managed an 8-ender!
