1927 - Norwood Lawn Bowling Club was established. The leaders of the Club were Geordie McIntosh, William Aitken and Harold Jenkins. The greens were first built in the Coronation Park on Tache Avenue, Winnipeg. At this time only men played bowls.
1941 - The ladies formed their own division and were known as the Norwood Coronation Ladies Lawn Bowling Association.
The ladies and men each had their own days for competition. As years went by, the ladies were invited to join in play with the men for social events.
The Club took a 50-year lease with the Masonic Lodge to use a portion of their property for their lawn bowling green and to share the use of the Lodge for their clubrooms.
1985 - The ladies' and men's groups joined to form one club with equal membership and all play became mixed.
1991 - Upon expiration of the lease and subsequent sale of the property, Norwood LBC moved to 1212 Dakota Street. At this site they have a joint lease agreement with Bowls Manitoba Inc., formerly called Manitoba Lawn Bowling Association.
2007 - They celebrated their 80th Anniversary on July 18.   Details of the anniversary year events are posted elsewhere.   Their annual operating grant was finally indexed to allow for an annual increase.
2008 - The City granted use of the north half of the shed that had been shared since 1991 and Norwood turned it into a clubhouse.
2009 - The Province provided a grant that allowed volunteers to add lockers and seating for about 30, plus kitchen facilities to prepare sandwiches. See Details
2010 - The plinth boards on two sides were replaced in October by volunteers. See Details
NORWOOD LAWN BOWLS is the only privately owned lawn bowling club in Winnipeg. They hire their own greenkeeper and provide all the maintenance equipment necessary to run the Club.   Current membership numbers around 90 adults and a few juniors.
The Club has a long history of champions in both ladies' and men's categories. Several members have served on the Bowls Manitoba executive, with a number of these having received Honourary Life Memberships.
Ongoing are hopes of adding a second green and having the parking lot paved and expanded.

That's the club with the green roof.
