The Clubhouse Renovation Story

Between 2006 and 2008, Pete put the pressure on the City to grant us full occupancy of the building that the City had been using to store two boulevard mowers.   Finally, in October 2008, Norwood received the key to the 'back half' of that building and Alan immediately commenced removing the dividing wall.   With help from Dennis and Bob V, he then braced the ceiling above the 13' opening.

Between October and February 2009, Elaine obtained quotes and applied for a Provincial grant from Community Places Program for roughly half the renovation estimate.   A letter from Jason Bell showed the City's approval and support for our efforts.   Elaine was appointed project leader and rounded up volunteers for the tasks--including painting walls and ceilings, electrical changes, plumbing, and carpentry.

Between April and September 2009, Alan directed the various jobs, building a firewall for the greenkeeper's new area, adding cupboards, and tiling the floor.   Kevin and Dennis worked on electrical and plumbing details; Bob & Betty reached new heights with the paintbrush; Jack Lauder worked off-site on lockers and tag boards so that Reno could lacquer them.   Blaine and Pam built new furniture and Betty worked on decorating the room.   Members contributed various items of furniture and ornaments and everyone chipped in to make it look just right.

In October, Theresa Oswald presented a cheque for just under $7 thousand to the Executive.
