Preparing for Battle

About sixty bowlers gathered at Dakota Lawn Bowls on August 1 to congratulate our Manitoba contingent as they prepare to leave for their respective arenas in Canada where they'll compete in National Competitions for coveted medals. Outfitted with Manitoba's yellow shirts and blazers, our combatants will be seen during August in Regina--fighting to retain our title in the Challenge against Saskatchewan and Alberta; in Sarnia in both the Men's and Women's Senior Triples; and in Montreal in the Canadian Majors--Men's and Women's Singles, Pairs, and Fours.
Bob Strong will be ready to take a break from work to represent Manitoba in Montreal, where he'll compete in the Men's Singles in national competition.
Elaine Jones has her itinerary and uniform ready for her trip to Montreal later in August, when she'll vie for yet another medal in the Women's Singles category at the Canadian Championships...but first she and her teammates Clarice Fitzpatrick and Anne Wright visit Sarnia, Ontario. They are competing in the Women's Senior Triples event August 5-10th.

Maurice Van Walleghem, Ian Hamilton, and Vince Scaletta will be joining them in Sarnia for the Men's Senior Triples that week.
With her sister Marilyn Baron, Clarice Fitzpatrick will also be going to Montreal for the Women's Pairs.

Gord Law and Rod Tester will be doing the same in the Men's Pairs.

Anne Wright returns to battle with teammates, Jean Roeland, Betty Van Walleghem, and Laurette Godard in the Women's Fours.

Bob Simmons, Gord Horton, Nick Panko, and Gerry Venderbos will be competing in the Men's Fours.

During the first week of September, the battle continues in Fredericton, NB, where Ed Mulholland and his wife Sandra Mulholland represent us in the championships.
